Who we are

Victors Digest is operated by Boardwalk Digital (boardwalkdigital.org). Questions about this policy or your information can be sent to admin@boardwalkdigital.org.

Article view counts (every visitor)

When you open an article, we add one to that article’s view count. This count is anonymous: it does not use cookies and does not record who you are, your IP address, or your device. To tell a first view apart from a refresh, your browser keeps a list of the articles you have opened in its session storage for the current tab. That list stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is cleared by your browser when you close the tab.

Google Analytics (only if you accept cookies)

If you choose “Accept” on our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics (provided by Google through Firebase) to understand how the site is used. If you choose “Decline” or make no choice, Google Analytics is not loaded. When it is on, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID> and collects:

We do not send your name, email address, or account ID to Google Analytics, even when you are signed in, and we have turned off Google signals and ad personalization for this data. Google’s handling of this information is described in the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Your cookie choice

Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so we don’t ask on every visit. You can change it at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page or here: . If you withdraw consent, Google Analytics stops and its cookies are removed from this site.

Accounts, comments, and the Blue Board

You can read Victors Digest without an account. If you create one, we store your email address, the display name you choose, and your newsletter preference, using Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. You can sign in with an email and password or with Google, Facebook, or X; those services share your email address with us when you use them. Your browser stores sign-in information so you stay signed in.

Comments and Blue Board posts you publish are public and show your display name. You can delete your account from your Account page, which removes your sign-in and profile. For anything else about your information, contact admin@boardwalkdigital.org.
